ali_wildgoose said she didn't understand why I wasn't making fanmixes all the time, So last night, on the train home from the holiday, I was tired of writing and decided to get over myself already and make a mix!

Persuasion is a conversation, and except for the start and finish, the songs go back and forth between Ryan and Simon.

Notes:
I think mostly what held me up from doing fanmixes in the past is that I was being really literal about it—like, I didn't want to make a mix of songs that reminded me of some pairing, but a mix of songs that one of those characters would give to the other, and then I would run into all kinds of problems with the music I owned. The mix really began with the Kenna song, which struck me as so very them, and gave me the idea for the rest of the mix. Not that I'm not still obsessive about it—I managed to get all the Americans singing for Ryan and the Brits for Simon, with the odd European or Antipodean swinging back and forth and a minimum of indie rock because these are pop guys. And no really sad songs because Simon doesn't like them.

I am, it's true. But can you make a mix for Austen with pop and rock songs? It feels unseemly, and I am not enough of a fan of early 19th century English songs to actually own any, or know enough about them to make a mix.

Eeee! This is so awesome; I can't even verbalize it. Haven't had a chance to listen to it thoroughly yet, but I love the exchange you outlined above. I think we can all relate to that type of evolving relationship at some point in our lives!
