I think yeah, they could never entirely stop pretending about something, and they'd kept so much private for so long that at this point it feels like a precious thing that the rest of the world doesn't get to see. Which, as Ryan well knows, is often how relationships in Hollywood last, by keeping something back.
The kids thing was part total self-indulgence and part Simon blathering about it on Oprah. So I'll blame him for that!
