I had already written the 60s piece, and last spring I was just finishing beta-ing an 80s Chris/Blake AU for a friend, and Ari and Ali were over one night for AI and I was saying that I wanted to write my own long Rymon-centered fic, but it would have to be an AU mostly because there isn't that much to say about their actual lives and I feel like I've said a lot of it. And then I started thinking about Ryan being in radio, and the rest of it just fell into place—the Phoney War period, and then the Blitz, and Ryan being an American in London instead of Simon being a Brit in NYC or LA was interesting. I find it easier to keep them all in character if they're in/around the entertainment industry, just in a different time period and therefore a slightly different situation.
