Yeah, I think it's so much the "how could Mr. Cowell be attractive to anyone? how can he be the one who takes care of Mr. Seacrest the way he should be taken care of?" that trips them up, because Simon has hidden so much more of himself from them, more than Ryan has at least to those two. Of course, they're also teens with the usual blinders.
