People keep revisiting that interwar period, and I think it's because being post-WWI gives it a bit more cynicism, a modern sensibility instead of an Edwardian one, and yet they're still clinging to King and Empire, esp after the whole Edward VIII mess. And now we all know what will happen, post-WWII, so it sort of is, well, perhaps an Indian Summer?
