Yeah, I did a lot of research and had this huge timeline of events that I was writing around. The time period stuff, especially the slang, was easy because I've seen so many of those 40s movies; I grew up on them. My father used to call me "sister" all the time, actually; he was just a bit too young to fight in that war, though my uncles did. (The hardest part was making sure that the only people who ever call anyone "man" are the boys in the band!)
