He gets all worked up focusing on the sex, but when Ryan is actually there he melts and realises how much more he means to him than that.
One of the things that makes me more tinhattish when I think about it is the way Simon says "Hello" when he knows it's Ryan on the phone. His tone is so full of genuine affection and pleasure and yes, melting!
